Trump Addresses ICE Protesters in Los Angeles With Blunt Response

Following heated protests in Los Angeles over Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, President Donald Trump issued a strong warning to demonstrators, particularly those accused of spitting on police. Speaking from New Jersey alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump announced the deployment of at least 2,000 National Guard troops to the city and suggested he may consider invoking the Insurrection Act if violence escalates.

During a press briefing before boarding Air Force One, Trump said he would not tolerate aggression toward law enforcement, saying:

“They spit, we hit. Nobody’s going to spit on our police officers or our military.”

Trump criticized protesters for using spitting and other forms of physical provocation against officers, which he described as “common.” He emphasized a zero-tolerance stance, saying offenders would be “hit very hard” in response.

When asked about possibly invoking the Insurrection Act, Trump said it would depend on whether there’s a legitimate insurrection, but noted “we’re going to have troops everywhere” if needed to maintain law and order.

Trump also criticized media coverage of the LA protests, responding to CNN’s Dana Bash, who suggested the situation wasn’t a true riot:

“Oh, I think it was a riot. I think it was very bad.”

The president also praised Breitbart News during the exchange and said he planned to hold high-level security meetings at Camp David with military leaders, though he didn’t confirm the presence of any foreign officials.

He concluded by warning that any officials who obstruct deportations or federal enforcement efforts could face criminal charges.
