Epstein Lawyer Claps Back at Musk’s Trump Remarks

A social media clash erupted on June 5 when Elon Musk accused former President Donald Trump of blocking the release of unsealed court documents related to the late Jeffrey Epstein. Musk, posting on X (formerly Twitter), alleged that Trump’s name appears in the Epstein files, claiming that this was the reason for the delay in making them public.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files,” Musk wrote, ending the post with, “Have a nice day, DJT!” He later added, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.” Musk didn’t provide evidence to support the claim.

Trump has not responded directly to Musk’s allegations, but David Schoen, a prominent attorney who represented Epstein shortly before his 2019 death, pushed back strongly.

On X, Schoen declared that during his time as Epstein’s criminal defense attorney, he had seen nothing to suggest Trump was involved in any wrongdoing. “I can authoritatively, unequivocally, and definitively say there was no damaging information about President Trump,” Schoen stated. He emphasized that Epstein had sought his legal advice for months before dying and had shared no incriminating revelations about Trump.

Schoen, a veteran civil rights and federal defense lawyer, also previously represented Trump during his second impeachment trial. He has voiced skepticism over Epstein’s official cause of death, which was ruled a suicide.

Jeffrey Epstein, who had been convicted in 2008 on charges related to underage prostitution, was arrested again in 2019 for allegedly trafficking minors. He died in jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial.
