Devin Nunes Applauds Kash Patel’s Work and Loyalty
Former Republican Congressman Devin Nunes, who once chaired the House Intelligence Committee, offered high praise for Kash Patel during a weekend interview, endorsing him as a strong choice to lead the FBI under a potential second Trump administration.
Speaking with Fox News host Mark Levin, Nunes—now the CEO of Truth Social, the social media platform launched by Donald Trump—voiced his support for Patel, a national security expert and longtime ally of Trump. Nunes hailed Patel’s understanding of the internal workings of federal law enforcement and described him as uniquely qualified to clean up what he characterized as deep-rooted problems within the FBI and the broader Department of Justice (DOJ).
Nunes argued that Patel is acutely aware of the ways in which the FBI and DOJ have, in his view, become politicized and weaponized over the past decade. He cited Patel’s past experience in intelligence and national security roles, including his work on Capitol Hill and within the Trump administration, as key reasons for his support.
“Kash knows where the bodies are buried,” Nunes remarked, implying that Patel has insider knowledge of what he believes to be corruption and bias at the highest levels of federal law enforcement. He emphasized that such knowledge would make Patel a decisive and reform-minded leader of the FBI, should Trump return to the White House and move forward with the appointment.
The endorsement comes amid ongoing conservative criticism of the FBI, with many Republicans accusing the agency of political bias—particularly in its handling of investigations related to Trump, the 2020 election, and more recently, classified documents. Nunes has been a prominent voice in this camp, often pointing to what he describes as the “politicization” of law enforcement agencies.
This public show of support by Nunes signals Patel’s rising profile within Trump-aligned circles as discussions about potential leadership changes in federal agencies continue to swirl ahead of the 2024 election.
